Project Initiation and Strategy meeting
Dhaka, 31 Jan 2008

The project initiation and strategy meeting was held on 31 January 2008 at the Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security conference room, attended by Mr S.M. Wahiduzzaman, Secretary, Ministry of Science and ICT (MOSICT), Mr Shamsul Alam Khan, Joint Secretary, MOSICT, Mr Mohammad Enamul Kabir, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC). Copies of the signed Record of Understanding (ROU) between ANU and AusAID was handed over to Mr S.M. Wahiduzzamn, Secretary, Ministry of Science and ICT and  to Major General Muniruzzaman, President BIPSS by Mr Ahmed Imran on behalf of ANU. Other BIPSS officials  were also present at the program initiation and strategy meeting along with others.


Workshop on Strategies & Training needs for Government officials to implement eGovernance in Bangladesh
12 February 2008, Dhaka

A workshop on 'Strategies and Training Needs for Government officials to implement eGovernance in Bangladesh' was held at BIAM Conference room at Dhaka, Bangladesh. The aim of this workshop was to build a common understanding through the exchange of views on strategies and training needs to share best practice development strategies for effective utilisation of ICT in the government sectors of Bangladesh. The day long workshop was attended by eminent ICT stakeholders in the area including Mr Shamsul Alam Khan (Joint Secretary, MOSICT), Mahbub Sarwar, National Project Director, strengthening the ICT Capacity at Prime Minister's Office, Mr SASM Taifur, Former Project director of SICT project, Rafiqul Islam Rowly, President BASIS, Dr Roknuzzaman, Dr Anannya Raihan, Mr Richard Fleming, BRDB, Mr Ziaul Hasan, Mr Shaihdul Shuvra, M. Liaquat Hossain and Iftekhar Jahan Farouqee. The participants shared their views on eGovernment strategies (short and long term) in the context of Bangladesh, existing strategies and policies and local priorities with possible suggestions, training needs for public sector officials, curriculum, design and subjects, knowledge and capacity building of public sector officials.

Orientation meeting
13 March 2008, Canberra

The first formal orientation meeting was held in Canberra at ANU with important stakeholders and likely contributors from various government agencies and academic arena.

Visit - Bangladesh Delegation
 17 March 2008, Canberra

A five member Bangladesh delegation team visited Canberra, who also paid a visit to NCISR at ANU. Associate Dean of Research Professor Tom Smith received the guests and presented ANU memento to the guests.

10 July 2008, Canberra

A World Bank financed study tour for the Bangladesh Government officials as part of the ICT Roadmap Development Project by Gov3 visited on 10 July to see and discuss the e-government project on Bangladesh undertaken by NCISR at ANU. The six member team was led by Mr Ahmed Hossain Khan, Joint Secretary (Development), Ministry of Science and ICT (MoSICT), Government of Bangladesh.

Workshop on Strategies & Training needs for Government officials of Bangladesh
27-31 July 2008, Canberra

Mr S.M. Wahiduzzaman, Secretary, MOSICT and Major General Muniruzzaman, President, BIPSS visited ANU, Canberra from 27 July to 30 July 2008 to attend a workshop on Information Technology Strategy and Management as a part of PSLP project for e-government. The workshop aimed to receive feedback on the two main project deliverables, set strategies to deliver the programs in most effective ways and to establish a common understanding and collaboration between the counter part organisations, supporting agencies, stakeholders and the project team. In addition to attending the day long workshop the delegation met the University's Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Chubb, AC and Professor Keith A. Houghton, Dean of ANU College of Business and Economics. The delegation also visited the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO), National ICT Australia (NICTA) and the AusAID who are supporting the project. During these visits the delegation had some fruitful discussions and exchanges of views on use of ICT in the public sectors.

Road test
16-17 September 2008, Canberra

The two day workshop and training modules prepared by Australian experts have gone under a road test amongst Bangladeshi born students studying at ANU. The aim of this workshop was to show the developers and instructors how effective the newly developed training materials are, and to use their feedback, on the workshop and road text performance, to fine tune these materials.
